Chris,

I have a very rough (and ugly) proof of concept for bypassing instantiation of association collection if the target is cacheable.This degrades gracefully with non-cacheable models.

Would a cleaned up and well tested version ( although easily broken and too coupled with AR internals ) be useful as an optional cache_fu extension?
